The Wii is entering it’s second phase of it’s motion sensing device with the welcome arrival of the Wii motion plus. Thankfully for those of us Wii fans that are in dire need of some hardcore games Nintendo let the folks over at EA have at the Wii motion plus and they have responded kindly with the release of Tiger Woods 10 and Grand Slam Tennis both of which are seeing some of the better reviews for real sports games on the Wii since the start of the casual gaming movement.
For the first time in a long time sports gamers are actually turning to the Wii version of a sports game over the more graphically powerful cousins on the other gaming consoles. Tiger Woods 10 in particular has gotten some great reviews leaving no question that the addition of Wii motion plus has been a welcome addition to the game of golf.
These two games of course are only the start of the Wii motion plus revolution as perhaps the biggest game on the Wii block that is coming down the road is expected later on this month when Wii Sports Resort hits the store shelves. The original Wii Sports is the game that set the Wii motion control casual game movement on fire and from all accounts it looks like Nintendo will have yet another runaway hit on their hands when Wii Sports Resort is released.
Lately Nintendo and it’s third party developers have been trying to bring back some of the hardcore gaming crowd. Unfortunately for those third party developers so far none of these hardcore” games have been runaway hits on the Wii. Is this a sign of the times is the question? Are real hardcore games on the way out and is the casual game syndrome is here to stay?
